We, the Customer…

Note -This picture is of the First Constitutional Convention (held May – Sep 1787 in Philadelphia, PA).. George Washington was elected to preside over the Convention and out of it came the United States Constitution.

Over 200 years ago, our country was founded on specific principles, namely:

– In Order to form a more perfect Union,

– establish Justice,

– insure domestic Tranquility,

– provide for the common defence,

– promote the general Welfare,

– and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.

When you stop to think about it, all of us our Customers of our government. After all, we pay money for services and we have a relationship that can improve or deteriorate based on how we are treated (wait, that sounds like it could be any type of relationship).

So, we are now being courted by multiple people who want to run the business we frequent.  From the Presidential race (with both Senators McCain and Obama) to California Propositions (such as Prop 8 – Marriage Between a Man and a Woman) to our local city and water resources boards, we are being courted for our vote.  There is only a week left until the elections, so I will be posting a few thoughts as they pertain to how we, as citizens, are treated as Customers, by our government.

So, regardless of your political affiliations, please get out and vote.  It’s your money that the government is going to spend and if you don’t vote, you can’t complain!

Thanks for reading and a special thanks to SFT for the comment correcting my web site settings (it helps that many people use the same template and report errors to you – good Customer Service!)

Thanks for reading (and yes, my undergraduate degree in History sometimes pushes its way out),
